COVID-19 Safety Announcement for St Jude Parish The diocese has published circular with a list of precautionary measures to be taken during this time of COVID-19 pandemic, and the circular was read to members on Sunday, March 08, 2020. The circular from the diocese is published on facebook. As a community, let us follow these directions to help each other in the community. Based on the circular, in addition to your earnest prayers, the following are recommended to protect the members of St Jude Parish and community: Follow and adhere to directions and mandates from the Federal, State, and Local government authorities with regard to the COVID-19 emergency Use “Namaste” greeting style for exchanging peace during Holy Mass, thus avoiding physical contacts Single species of Holy Host will be administered and do receive Holy Communion in hands Keep the Holywater fonts dry (so you don’t need to dip) Refrain from attending church ceremonies if you are susceptible, elderly or who have any symptoms of cough or flu, etc. The following actions have already been or will be be in effect during the time of emergency: CCD classes - cancelled Ward Prayer meetings - cancelled Effective 3/16/20, all gatherings in the basement will be cancelled, and food and drinks won’t be served. Water dispenser will be available. The bathrooms will be available. Use your own discretion as appropriate Holy Mass is NOT cancelled; it will continue as per normal schedule. However, as per diocese, the aspects of obligation is removed during the period of emergency Please keep these additional points in mind while in church premises or in your home: Help Keep the church and facilities clean by following best practices including hand washing, proper trash disposal etc. If you have planned any events during this period of emergency please consider other alternatives Please use your due diligence if you or any of your family members have travelled recently out of the local area to refrain from gatherings If individuals feel comfortable, please bring to Church disinfectant wipes for personal use. The church premise does not have enough supplies of disinfectant wipes. We will provide timely updates if there are any changes. Please look out for updates in “St Jude Communications” group and emails. Also, please check the diocesan publications related to the matters of Church.
